Shane Stewart Set to Storm into WoO Action at Texas Motor Speedway
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (October 8, 2003) - Shane Stewart and Scott Chilcutt's Oklahoma City-based #4m Sprint Car team look to continue their lengthy trend of strong finishes as they take on the World of Outlaws this Friday and Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.
In the team's last ten outings, Shane has posted seven podium finishes aboard the Wesmar-powered Hoosier-shod Maxim, including four feature wins and a pair of runner-up finishes.
"We've really been going well lately, this is just a great team to drive for," stated the Bixby, OK, hotshoe. "Scott's great, he makes sure we have what we need to run up front. And Rob (Hart) and I have become the best of friends. Rob's awesome at setting up the car and tuning the engines. He'll get on me when I mess up, but he's the first to praise me when I do well. I just hope we can keep it going like this over the last part of the season," Shane concluded.
After a stellar month of August, Shane and the Cox Communications/Brodix/Sander Engineering #4m Sprint Car team kicked off the month of September in style, sweeping a pair of O'Reilly American Sprint Car Series National Tour presented by Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores and United Trailers feature events in Arkansas.
A week after topping the ASCS events in Batesville and Little Rock on September 5-6, both in convincing wire-to-wire fashion, Shane charged from twelfth to post a solid sixth place run aboard the Banshee Graphics/Schoenfeld Headers/Penske Shocks machine in World of Outlaws action at Hollywood Hills Speedway near Albuquerque, NM.
Jut a few days later, Shane was contending for the win on the first night of the Eagle (NE) Raceway 1/3-Mile Short Track Nationals when contact from another machine resulted in race-ending damage. The next night, September 20, Shane came from deep in the field to finish 11th in the 1/3-Mile Short Track Nationals finale.
With the 1/3-Mile Short Track Nationals in the books, Shane, crew chief Rob Hart and Matt Garner made the trek to Huset's Speedway the next night for the 39th Annual Cheater's Day Classic at Huset's Speedway in South Dakota, where Shane posted a strong third place finish.
Shane rejoined the O'Reilly ASCS National Tour the next weekend for the inaugural running of the Sedalia (MO) 360 Shootout. Shane topped a tough field in Thursday's qualifying action in the mIn Motorsports Management/Express Transit/Pro Lube Center mount, then, after leading until the final corner, finished a close second in the $10,000-to-win Saturday night finale.
Shane recorded another runner-up finish in the opening night of the Queen's Royale at Jacksonville (IL) Speedway on Friday, October 3, before driving the B&B Oval Products/HRP Wings machine into the lead on the final round in spectacular style to collect $5,000 for his eighth O'Reilly ASCS National Tour feature of the year at Delta Bowl Speedway in Tunica, MS, the next night.
With 86 nights of racing at 47 different tracks in 19 states already in the books, Shane and the Rob Hart-led Visit Australia "Down & Dirty Down Under" Tour #4m Sprint Car team are set to make a strong run down the stretch drive of the 2003 season, beginning with this weekend's World of Outlaws double at Texas Motor Speedway.
