Terry McCarl announced today that he will compete full time with the World of Outlaws sprint car series in 2005.
"My family and I have been wanting to do this for a long time and we are really looking forward to 2005," said McCarl. "Fleet Buying Group's new all purpose cleaner Clean-O has joined our team, and along with all of our existing sponsors, such as Big Game Tree Stands, Country Builders Construction, and Bosma Poultry stepping up, have made it possible for us to run the full WoO schedule next year."
Certainly no stranger to the rigorous travel demands of the World of Outlaws, McCarl makes the long anticipated announcement after a successful 2004 campaign that included 25 Sprint Car wins in 8 different states including Florida, Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Missouri, and California. Nine sanctions saw McCarl visit their victory lane in 2004, including the World of Outlaws, Sprint Bandits, All Star Circuit of Champions, Interstate Racing Association, NCRA, NOSA, NMRA, ESTS, and the Sprint Invaders. While without a doubt a seasoned traveler throughout his career and in 2004, McCarl still found time to notch an unprecedented 6th consecutive Knoxville Raceway 410 Sprint Car point championship.
The 39 year old Altoona, Iowa driver is no stranger to World of Outlaws competition. He followed the entire 1992 World of Outlaws tour, earning an 9th place finish in the final point standings. Ironically, McCarl will compete in 2005 with support from Country Builders Construction, Sander Engineering and WESMAR Racing Engines, who were all aboard McCarl's team in his 1992 World of Outlaws campaign. Additional support in 2005 will come from long time backers Big Game Tree Stands, Bosma Poultry, Clean-O by Fleet Buying Group, Eagle Chassis, and Hoosier Race Tires.
McCarl scored his first two career World of Outlaws wins in 2004, visiting victory lane at Joplin, Missouri and Tulare, California.
Crew Chief Steve Fitzpatrick will be joining McCarl on the 2005 World of Outlaws tour.
