KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 11, 2000) - The following is a summary of quotes following Mark Kinser's second-straight Amoco Knoxville Nationals Pennzoil World of Outlaws victory, and third overall (1996), during Saturday night's feature at Knoxville Raceway. In addition, quotes from Crew Chief Karl Kinser and Team Amoco driver Dale Blaney.

MARK KINSER, driver of the No. 5m Team Mopar Maxim

ON PASSING DONNY SCHATZ FOR THE VICTORY; "Donny was awfully fast out there and I didn't think I could catch him. The thing was, he didn't do anything wrong, it was just one of those things. We just happen to do something right. I know Donny and he's a good friend of mine, he's dating my sister in law. She probably won't talk to me for a while now.

ON SCHATZ LOSING AFTER LEADING LATE; It's pretty tough because I know what it's like to lose when you think you have one wrapped up. I think it was 1991, when I led the race and had a motor failure. It took me about four years to get over that, because you never know when you will have another shot at this race. We had qualified well, ran well, but had never won the thing. I thought, the one time I was going to win this race - it slipped away from me. It was really tough for me because I didn't know if I was going to win it.

WHAT'S IT LIKE TO WIN THREE NATIONALS? It's really exciting. You can just see the excitement in my dad's (crew chief Karl Kinser) eyes. He's won this thing 14 times. There is nothing that compares to winning this race. There is no feeling in this world of the excitement. Tears just well up in my eyes when I think about winning this race. I bawled like a baby for three days when I won it. The adrenaline pump is amazing.

WHAT ABOUT THE GROOVE; "On the lap-17 red, we threw some stuff at the car. When we were running it, I found that there was a little moisture on the bottom of the track and we could run there. When there were about five laps to go, I just drove it in there and gave it a shot and it worked.

"I actually thought the high groove was the action groove and miles per hour groove. I was able to make the low groove work though, it just worked out.

KARL KINSER, crew chief on the No. 5m Team Mopar Maxim

"I actually think there early in the race we would have been better if I run the same tires that I run the night before. I geared the car a little on the low side, from what we had been. We had to change that during the first red-flag period and go to a little higher gear. Everything finally came together there at the end. I think if I would have put the tires on that we ran the two previous nights; I think we would have led it from the first lap.

DALE BLANEY, driver of the No. 93 Team Amoco Maxim

"The No. 4 car (Jeff Sheperd) just got turned around in front of me and I couldn't get out of the way.

HOW WHERE YOU RUNNING UP TO THAT POINT? "I wasn't really good up to that point. We slid back to eighth or so - I'm really not sure. I felt like I was going to be okay as the race went on. It's a 30-lap race and I was hoping to be good at the end. We don't know if I would have been or not.
