OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (May 21, 2003) - After three weekends of competition with the American Sprint Car Series, Tulsa's Shane Stewart rejoins the World of Outlaws tour for this coming weekend's Outlaw Shootout at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Charlotte.
With 22 top-ten finishes in 36 outings thus far in 2003 aboard Scott Chilcutt's mIn Motorsports Management/Express Transit/Pro Lube Center Hoosier-shod machine, including a recent triumph in ASCS action at 67 Texarkana Speedway, Shane looks forward to a return to Lowe's Motor Speedway where he has run well in the past. Shane has finished no lower than eleventh in his last four WoO events atop Lowe's 4/10-mile clay oval, including fourth and fifth place runs during last spring's Charlotte event.
This weekend's action also marks Cathy Barrows' final weekend as an active crew member on the Cox Communications/Brodix/Sander Engineering Wesmar-powered MCI-chassis No. 4m team. An integral part of the team since coming on board early in 2002, Cathy will be taking a leave of absence as she and fellow crew team member Rob Hart anticipate the birth of their first child in August.
Stepping in for Cathy will be Dave Sharman, who also hails from Australia. Sharman, long-time crew chief for Australian hotshoe Dave Murcott, will join the B&B Oval Products/HRP Wings/Banshee Graphics/Schoenfeld Headers team next week, just in time for ASCS Speedweek, which features eight nights of racing over nine days.
Shane has been a top contender when traveling with the World of Outlaws this season, entering this weekend's competition with twelve top-ten finishes in 19 WoO events.
Already with 36 nights of racing under their belt in fifteen different states from Florida to California and Texas to Wisconsin, Shane and the #4m team will compete in more than 100 events throughout the country this season.
