Silver Car to Commemorate Swindell Milestone MEADVILLE, PA (May 5) - In a dramatic break from the familiar blue of his #1 Channellock Gambler, Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series racer Sammy Swindell will unveil a silver sprint car to commemorate his 25th year in sprint car racing later this month. Scheduled to debut in Channellock's home state of Pennsylvania, the silver #1 will make its first appearance May 20th at Lernerville Speedway, and will be highlighted at the nationally televised Channellock Spring Classic at Williams Grove Speedway May 22-23. Swindell's silver car and the Channellock Spring Classic will be telecast to millions of fans on TNN: The Nashville Network Friday, May 23rd, beginning at 8 p.m. EDT on its TNN Motor Madness program. The silver sprinter will be see again later this season at other event, but specific dates have not been determined. One likely race will be the Amoco Knoxville Nationals, the World of Outlaws' premier event, which is scheduled for August 13-16. Swindell, who lives in Cordova, TN, has left an indelible mark on the racing record books. Since first competing in a sprinter in 1973, Swindell has garnered almost every major sprint car honor in America. This list includes World of Outlaws titles in 1981 and 1982, the Amoco Knoxville Nationals championship in 1983 and three Chili Bowl Midget championships. With 215 "A" Feature victories, Sammy is the second most successful driver in World of Outlaws history. With five main event and three preliminary feature victories this season, Swindell is locked in a heated points battle in pursuit of his third World of Outlaws title. "I don't think there are many drivers who have fun as many races for as many years as I have," Swindell said as he reflected on his 25 years in sprint car racing. "I'm very fortunate to have good people working for me and sponsors, like Channellock, who have stuck with me through the good times and the bad." Channellock is proud of its association with the Swindell family, which includes Sammy's wife, Amy, and son, Kevin. "While we're obviously quite fond of the familiar Channellock Blue on Sammy's car, we believe the commemorative silver paint scheme represents a noteworthy symbol to mark a significant achievement in the illustrious career of such a great competitor and individual."
