Preston Peebles II Makes 410 Debut with World of Outlaws Feature Start
Denver, Colorado - First laps ever turned with a 410ci engine. First time ever to compete in a World of Outlaws race. First World of Outlaws 'A' Main start. That's what Preston Peebles II did this past Tuesday night at Rocky Mountain National Speedway in Denver, Colorado. The 19-year-old Peebles took to the 410 very well, which has about 150 more horsepower and is about 100 lbs lighter than what he is used to. After qualifying 23rd out of a 35-car field, Peebles started pole in a WoO driver stacked field, which included Steve and Kraig Kinser, Terry McCarl, Shane Stewart and Danny Lasoski. Preston finished up the heat sixth, than transferred out of the 'B' Main to claim the last starting spot for the World of Outlaws Feature event.
In the feature Peebles immediately began to move up in position, passing a slew of cars and battling with WoO driver Brian Paulus in the opening laps. Once the race hit its stride, Peebles ran in tow behind WoO regulars. When the caution flew on lap 15, Peebles had noticed the oil pressure dropping, ultimately forcing Preston to take the 11P Maxim back to the pits. "I think we did very well tonight with all things in consideration. My goal was to make the A and be competitive within reason. I think we accomplished that." Commented Preston on the night. While on the road, Preston also completed his NCRA Sprint Car Series season, finishing second in points behind Garry Lee Maier and capturing the Rookie of the Year title. Next up for the P team is some ASCS racing In Waco, Texas 9/23, Kennedale, Texas 9/24, and back with the World of Outlaws at Dodge City, Kansas 10/7 & 10/8
