New Egypt, NJ (Mar. 2) -- For anxious fans who have been jamming up the phone lines since Christmastime, hoping for first shot at what may be the hottest ticket in town -- your wait is over. Monday, March 12, is the official kickoff date for advance ticket sales for New Egypt Speedway's July 30 Pennzoil World of Outlaws blockbuster, sponsored by CARQUEST Auto Parts.
The high-profile event will bring the country's premier touring Sprint cars and stars to New Jersey for the first time in over a decade, and Garden State fans are simply swooning at the thought of seeing 16-time WoO series champ Steve Kinser, Danny "The Dude" Lasoski, Mark Kinser, Jac "Wild Child" Haudenschild, Stevie Smith, Andy Hillenburg, the Chesson boys and Donnie Schatz in a high-speed showdown on Jersey turf.
"This show has been the topic of conversation all winter," said track owner Rick Grosso Sr., who is partnering with Lebanon Valley Speedway promoter Howard Commander to present the national event. "The fans are all excited, and so are we. It's going to be great."
Reserved-seat tickets for New Egypt's "Greatest Show on Dirt" -- starring the Pennzoil World of Outlaws with a Sportsman Invitational undercard on Monday night, July 30 -- are priced at $30. A special hotline number has been set up for advance ticket sales only: starting March 12, fans can call (908) 359-1183, Monday through Friday from 10 am to 3 pm, to order tickets by telephone. The track can accept payment by VISA or MasterCard, as well as cash, check or money order.
Fans will also be able to purchase reserved Outlaw seats at the track on Saturdays starting March 24, when New Egypt officially opens the gates to unveil its newly enlarged track configuration to a waiting public. A noon to 5 pm practice session on March 24 will enable racers to get the feel of the bigger, half-mile tri-oval before racing starts for real on Saturday, March 31. The groundshaking big-block Modifieds, Sportsman and Street Stocks are on the opening day card. For more information, call the speedway office at (609) 758-1900.
