MARK KINSER WINS WOO PRELIMINARY FEATURE AT LAS VEGAS LAS VEGAS, NV, February 27, 1998 - Running on a dry, hard, slick track covered with tire rubber, it took Mark Kinser fifteen of the 30 feature laps to catch the flying leader Dale Blaney who held the top spot from the green flag. Mark started back in the fifth row and slowly moved toward the front, sixth on lap two, fifth on lap 4, third on lap six, second on lap 12, then assumed command on lap 15 and won by a substantial margin. With his right rear tire fading Blaney got nipped by Jac Haudenschild at the finish while Johnny Herrera battled Sammy Swindell for fourth. Rounding out the finishers on the lead lap were Steve Kinser, Andy Hillenberg and Stevie Smith. The last two in the top ten were one lap down. Danny Lasoski in the Roth 83 and Brent Kaeding in the M&M Racing 2M rounded out the top ten. The 30 lap feature was run under green flag to flag. It was Mark Kinser's second win at Las Vegas, having last won in the opener November of 1996. Jeff Swindell won both features at Las Vegas in 1997 but could only manage 11th tonight.
