Steve Francis Motorsports announces 2005 tour, Kentucky Colonel sets aim on World of Outlaws Late Model Series championship gold
(Ashland, KY) Steve Francis Motorsports have announced for the 2005 season the Kentucky based team is committed to compete with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series in efforts to capture the series championship. Francis finished 2nd in the World of Outlaw Late Model Series during the inaugural 2004 season with the Kentucky Colonel taking three victories and led the series with 28 top-5 finishes.
"I am definitely racing with the World of Outlaw Late Model Series for the 2005 season," says Francis of his 2005 intentions. "We had good success with the series last season, and I am looking forward to racing with them again this year."
Steve Francis will pilot the #15 Mopar and Valvoline sponsored Freeport Recycling Center Rocket Chassis Dodge for the 2005 campaign and will run a limited schedule for Larry Moring of Moring Motorsports out of Illinois.
Outside of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Francis will compete in dirt late model big money events, such as the Dream, World 100, and the Topless 100 along with races on the North American Racing Association (NARA), and the World Dirt Racing League as well as select independent events throughout the season.
Francis' first event of the 2005 season will be at East Bay Raceway in Tampa, FL for the 29th Winternationals sanctioned by the North American Racing Association (NARA).
"At this time, I am not sure how many events we will race at East Bay, but I am planning on being there for the last two events," commented Steve.
Following the NARA Winternationals, Francis will be at Volusia Speedway Park in Daytona Beach, FL for six nights of dirt late model action that will be sanctioned by the World of Outlaw Late Model Series (February 17 and 19) for two events, and the other four events sanctioned by the UMP Super Late Model Series (February 14, 15, 16, and 18).
The Mopar and Valvoline sponsored driver won the inaugural World of Outlaws Late Model Series event last season at Volusia Speedway Park, his first victory at the track.
Francis is fresh off his second consecutive Early Thaw championship where the former three time Renegade DirtCar Series champion scored two victories and heat race wins in all six events.
