Las Vegas World of Outlaws Nationals Transformed Into Two Single-Day Events

Las Vegas -- March 2, 2006 -- Everything in Las Vegas seems to be just a bit larger than anywhere else. It's a town built on excess. With that in mind, the World of Outlaws and Las Vegas Motor Speedway are excited to announce next week's Las Vegas World of Outlaws Nationals on March 9-10 will be bigger, too.

The two-day event featuring the World of Outlaws Mean 15 racers, including NASCAR star Kasey Kahne's team with driver Joey Saldana, will now become back-to-back single-day shows like they were in the season-opening event at Volusia Speedway Park. That means the total amount at stake over the course of the event will exceed $103,000, with $10,000-to-win each night and every competitor will have to qualify on both nights.

The two single-day shows on back-to-back nights is a break from the traditional two-day format -- a preliminary feature followed the next night by the main event -- and is one way series officials this season have been experimenting with ways to improve the racing for fans, drivers and promoters. Some two-day events cannot become two single-day shows and will therefore keep the traditional format this season.

In addition, The Outdoor Channel cameras will film each program and give each night of racing it's own show. The March 9 event will air at 8 p.m. (Eastern) on March 22 and the March 10 show will be broadcast at 8 p.m. on March 29. The shows also will be rebroadcast each week at 1 a.m. Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.

If fans are unable to make it to Las Vegas, they can listen to live audio broadcasts of the World of Outlaws Sprint Series event as well as the late model show on the DIRT Radio Network through DIRTVision.com beginning at 6:30 Pacific/9:30 ET.

Highlighting the off-track activities during the event will be the Mean 15 racers taking part in an autograph session at 2:30 p.m. on March 10 at the midway near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway 1.5-mile oval in conjunction with qualifying events for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series event on Sunday.

Also joining the schedule are dirt late models, which will race each night in non-sanctioned events that will include qualifying races and $3,000 to-win, 30-lap features. World of Outlaws Late Model Series star Rick Eckert will be competing for the first time in the Las Vegas late model shows.

"Converting the World of Outlaws event from a two-day show into two separate shows is a win-win deal for everybody," says DIRT MotorSports Vice President and CFO Brian Carter. "The fans benefit with complete coverage of both events while the drivers have the chance to race for more money than a standard preliminary feature pays out."

The high-powered Sprint Cars will make their first visit of 2006 to the Dirt Track at LVMS on March 9 and 10 as part of the annual NASCAR Weekend. The Outlaws will return for their season finale on Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28, as part of the NHRA ACDelco Las Vegas Nationals.

Tickets for the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and dirt Late Model doubleheader may be purchased by calling (800) 644-4444 or online at www.LVMS.com. Dirt Late Model racer entry information is available by calling the speedway office at (702) 632-8213.
