JASON MEYERS ADDS TWO MORE TOP FIVE FINISHES TO CAREER
CLOVIS, Calif. (October 22, 2008) Ocean Speedway- Watsonville, CA - Jason Meyers and the Elite Racing team visited Ocean Speedway back on March 14 to get reacquainted with the tight confines and to find a solid set-up for the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event on Friday, October 17.
Meyers wound up winning that night at Ocean Speedway in his return to the track, leading all 30 laps against a very strong field of cars. That night he was second fastest in time trials, and won a heat race to start on the pole position for the A-Feature.
Meyers was looking for a repeat in victory lane Friday night when he returned to Ocean Speedway. Meyers started the night by qualifying 15th putting him on the front row of his heat race. He piloted the GLR Investments, DDNi, KPC Chassis to a 2nd place finish earning him a spot in the Crane Cams dash where he finished 5th.
Meyers would line up on the inside of row three for the 40-lap contest to post a 5th place feature event finish aboard the GLR Investments, DDNi, KPC Chassis to earn his series-best 46th Top-Five finish of the season.
Thunderbowl Raceway- Tulare, CA
Meyers was quickest in qualifying on Saturday night at his home track of Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare to earn five bonus points in the standings.
Starting 4th in his heat race, Meyers was able to gain one position to post a 3rd place finish. Meyers' 3rd place finish in his heat would keep him out of the pill draw for the Crane Cams Dash, but still allowed him to make the dash through his qualifying time where he would finish in the 9th position.
Lining up 9th in the nights A-main Meyers was able to race his way to a 5th place finish aboard the GLR Investments, DDNi, KPC Chassis. Meyers used the two fifth-place finishes over the weekend to gain 41 points on Donny Schatz in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship standings. The difference between the two title contenders is now just 97 markers with three events remaining in 2008. "We just have to keep doing what we are doing and finishing up front," Meyers said, when asked what it will take to win his first title.
