Martin makes impressive debut at the Chili Bowl!
Tulsa, OK (1/15/007) The 21st Annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals wrapped up on Saturday at the Tulsa Expo Center as World of Outlaws drivers, team owners, and officials all took to the track for an intense afternoon and evening of racing. In his first trip to the Chili Bowl as a driver Jason Martin, finished the weekend a very respectable 17th in the 50-lap A-Feature. The native of Liberal, Kansas began the day on Saturday by winning the first 20-lap B-Main leading wire-to-wire. On Friday, Martin turned in an equally impressive effort, winning a Qualifying race that featured eventual Chili Bowl Winner and World of Outlaws team owner, Tony Stewart.
During Friday evening's qualifying races Martin would take a 2nd in the heat and win the Qualifying race giving the Hot Shoe enough points to line up in the 5th row of the "A" feature. Martin in his #36 Ellis Chassis with Fontana Power would display patience throughout the feature and bring the NOS Energy Drink Mafia Motorsports entry home in 5th which would put the Hitman on the front row for the first "B" main on Saturday's finale. Martin gave made his sponsors proud winning that race and leading flag to flag.
"This is pretty cool to come here for the first time and make the big show on Saturday night." Said a smiling Martin. "I have to thank my dad for all his help plus Speedway Motors, Rod End Supply, New Vision Graphics, Butler Built, Sprint Car Exchange, Sander Engineering and Advanced Suspension. Without all of their help we could not have done this. I know we had a top 10 car for the feature we just made a bit of a mistake on the fueling and we bogged down in the corners. This is a definite confidence booster to kick off the season and I am looking forward to top runs with the Outlaws this year."
