By Richard Day PHOENIX, AZ (October 22) - Randy Hannagan made his debut in the #8H Energy Release Maxim Friday when the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series opened the 32nd Annual goracing.com Western World Championships at Manzanita Speedway. "I'm really glad for the opportunity to return to the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series," the series' 1995 Rookie of the Year said. "This is going to be a bright new team. We're going to build a good base and concrete our plans. We want stability; that's the plan. We hope to grow from there and make this a long-term relationship. "I'm ecstatic. Going into the end of this season, I know what I have for next year. I can race through the winter in Australia and come back and be fresh to come back and try to be successful with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series." Hannagan drove his #1x NetTaxi Maxim into 17th place at the Amoco Knoxville Nationals, then raced with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series in the Wild, Wild Northwest Tour and in California. He has six top-10 finishes this season, including fourth-place runs at San Jose Speedway and Kings Speedway. "We had a really good Outlaws swing this year," Randy said. "I want to build on that. Getting older makes you a little bit wiser. I think I'm really ready for it now. In '95, I was probably a little immature to go out there and run an Outlaws team. But you have to make mistakes to learn from them. "It's great to be back. I missed being out there. Now is a perfect time to come back, with all the TV coming on and the new places we're going to race. I'm just happy to be a part of it. It's the sport I've grown up watching. It's an honor to be a part of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series again." Joe Gaerte opened the season as Holbrook's driver, then retired after 29 events. Shane Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Dean Jacobs and Dale Blaney have also drive the #8H this year. "I hired Randy to drive for us for rest of the season and next year," Holbrook said. "He's been with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series before and knows his way around. He runs Maxim cars and knows Gaerte Engines, which we run. He also carries himself well and is a good person to represent our team." goracing.com, which became a subsidiary of Action Performance earlier this year, recently moved its headquarters from Canton, MA, to Phoenix. goracing.com is the Internet home of World of Outlaws Online, the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series' official web site.
