Hartford, MI 6/11 The World of Outlaws Sprint Series event originally scheduled for June 11 has been rescheduled to Wednesday night, July 14. This will be a full point show, and all tickets and pit passes sold both prior to and on June 11 will be honored.
Steady rains hit Hartford solidly for two days prior to the June 11 date, with rain finally ending in the early afternoon on race day. Both WoO promoter SLS Promotions and the owners of Hartford Speedway Park believed they could get the track ready for the show to go on that night as scheduled, and they brought in additional equipment to help with the track prep process. Unfortunately for all concerned, the track was too saturated. Despite everyone's effort, it could not be prepared for what could be deemed "safe for racing" by the WoO. Hartford Speedway Park is undoubtedly one of the fastest tracks dirt tracks in the country, and safety for the participants was a major concern of all parties.
WoO, SLS, and Hartford Speedway Park officials then met, and with the WoO's extremely busy schedule, the ONLY date that became available for a rescheduled event was Wednesday night, July 14, as the series travels from Cedar Lake on the way to Eldora. Regretfully, there was no other option other than to reschedule to that date. "To those that called and then made the trip over to Hartford on June 11th, we apologize for your inconvenience, though we gave it a true genuine effort in an attempt to run as scheduled," stated a race spokesman.
The WoO returned to Hartford Speedway Park in 2003 following an absence of several years. The 2003 event, which was run on a Wednesday night in August, was contested in front of a standing room only crowd that witnessed Brian Paulus passing Donny Schatz on the final turn to capture his first career WoO main event.
Again, all tickets and pit passes purchased for the June 11 event will be honored on July 14, and everyone who had tickets waiting to be picked up at WILL CALL will have those same tickets available for pick up again on July 14.
