SALDANA, MEYERS WIN OUTLAWS RACES AT CASTROL SPEEDWAY

EDMONTON, Alberta (Aug. 30, 2010) -- Joey Saldana and Jason Meyers won the main events during the Oil City Cup World of Outlaws sprint car event at Castrol Speedway.

Saldana's win may eventually play a role in the race for the championship. Saldana is the championship points leader. He finished the weekend with 7,171 points. Steve Kinser is second with 7,145.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire supplier for the rear wheel positions for the WoO sprint car series. Other touring series and short tracks around the country also use Goodyear Eagles for their sprint car programs. That enables sprint car racers around the country to race at various tracks in their region or compete with touring series when one races at a track near home without having to retune their chassis to a different tire package.

Saldana's victory in Saturday's 30-lap feature came after a scramble at the finish during which Saldana edged Donny Schatz and Sam Hafertepe. Schatz was second, followed by Hafertepe, Meyers and Paul McMahan. Jac Haudenschild posted the top qualifying lap, averaging 98.988 mph.

Meyers' victory came at the expense of Kerry Madsen, who finished second. Donny Schatz finished third, Jason Sides was fourth and McMahan was fifth. Meyers also had the quickest lap in qualifying.
