KAHNE SETS QUALIFICATION RECORD; SALDANA, MEYERS WIN RACES

BULLS GAP, Tenn. (March 21) -- A speed record fell and the championship lead changed hands as the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series raced twice at Volunteer Speedway. The high-banked venue produces some of the fastest competition in Outlaws history.

Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the rear wheel positions in Outlaws competition, as well as in other major sprint car racing series across the country. In the WoO series, the front wheel positions remain open to competition between tiremakers but most teams use Goodyear front tires.

Kasey Kahne, the popular NASCAR driver, was in the field for the first race of the weekend after posting a qualifying lap of 10.258 seconds, a stunning 140.378 mph around the .40-mile oval. The lap was the fastest-ever Outlaws lap at Volunteer.

Joey Saldana won the first race, besting 20-time WoO champion Steve Kinser, Danny Lasoski, Brad Sweet and Paul McMahan at the finish. Saldana's win was his second of the young 2010 season and his second straight at Volunteer. Kahne finished 19th in the race.

Jason Meyers won the second race of the weekend, taking his 38th Outlaws feature victory. Lance Dewease led the first 13 laps and finished second. Sweet finished third, followed by McMahan and Kinser.

His win allowed Meyers to taking the lead in the standings by a 1,293-1,288 margin over Kinser.
