MEYERS and ELITE RACING TEAM KICK OFF IN FLORIDA
Barberville, FL - Volusia Speedway Park marks the start of the racing season for Jason Meyers and Elite Racing. For 3 nights Meyers and fellow WoO competitors raced with the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champion series. Meyers like many others utilizes this opportunity to 'work out any bugs' before the opening night of the World of Outlaws series.
The Elite Racing team was looking for a strong start to a three night battle with the All Stars. With engine complications during time trials and once again at the start of the heat race, Meyers was forced to start at the tail of the field, he would finish in the 8th spot in heat 4. Meyers gained ground in a tough field of competitors during the nights A-Main. Starting 24th, Meyers worked his way through traffic to post a 14th finish.
Meyers started the night off by qualifying 5th with a time of 14.904 putting him in the 5th starting position in heat one. Meyers would finish 6th missing the transfer to the nights A-main by one spot. Forced to run the B-Main Meyers would start 3rd and finish 3rd to advance to the main event. Meyers lined up 13th in the A-Main to post a 9th place finish.
Being one of the last cars to qualify is normally not were any driver wants to be. Meyers turned his late qualifying effort into a time of 13.355 putting him 11th out of 44 qualifiers. Meyers would start 4th in heat 3 to finish 3rd. Lining up 5th for the nights feature event Meyers staged an exciting battle for the fans while racing in a tight group of cars for several laps through the course of the event to finish in the 4th spot. Finishing fourth wasn't exactly Victory Lane; however it did give the Elite Racing Team a boast of confidence heading into the season opener for the World of Outlaws.
