2007 Race Recap: Shane Stewart led just one lap, the most important one, the final one, last season at Grays Harbor Raceway to pick up the World of Outlaws win.
Stewart took the lead as the white flag waved as he dove under Craig Dollansky, who ran out of fuel. Stewart opened a sizeable lead on Joey Saldana as the pair entered the first and second turns. The lap before, Stewart and Saldana had been battling for the second position, as they both ran right behind Dollansky.
The 40-lap event began with Dollansky in the lead, after a red flag period and then a yellow. Tim Shaffer quickly moved into the second spot before another caution flew. On the subsequent restart, Dollansky opened a sizeable lead again. The leaders entered traffic on the seventh lap and Shaffer closed the gap and looked low several times for the lead, but could not quite get close enough to make a pass.
In the middle stages of the race, Dollansky continued to lead, running the high side of the track. Shaffer and Stewart battled for the second spot lap after lap. With 10 laps to go, Stewart's car began to smoke heavily, even under the caution with three laps to go. Despite his engine nearly expiring during the race, he was able to get a pretty good restart to make his final charge at Saldana who would finish second and then to get around Dollansky who wound up third.
Tim Shaffer finished fourth with Jason Meyers rounding out the Top-Five.
