Meyers on Winter Preparation

This winter was the first time since the inception of Elite Racing that I have spent the winter separated from the race team. With our new facility in Brownsburg, IN, it made sense to keep the team in the Midwest for the winter where our team members could visit home more often. Being separated from the team was difficult for me in some ways as I really enjoy working with the guys and helping to develop our cars. On the other hand, it allowed me to dedicate myself to my workout routine and to spend more time developing our marketing plans and sponsor relations.

Meyers on TEAM

I have all of my guys back for another season and without a doubt that is the most important part to success. The individuals that make up the Elite Racing team truly understand what it takes to win as a team and their fire to win in unparalleled. Everyone, DJ, Brian, Glen, Charlie, Scott, Rene, Chris, Guy, the whole team, they want to win and they work as a team to make it happen. I am very lucky to have the team that I have and together we are going to win a World of Outlaw championship.

Meyers on Volusia Speedway Park Results

While we did not make a lot of headlines in Florida this season, we had a very respectable start and I feel we left Florida with a really good race car. With two 8th place finishes in the All Star races and then a 4th and 6th place finish in the Outlaw shows, it was a good clean start to the season. We did a lot of testing in Florida with two completely different race cars and a lot of new suspension ideas. We had Corey Filip from Advanced Racing Suspensions down there with us the entire week and we left there with a great shock package as well as some other new developments that will pay off this season.

Meyers on Goodyear Tires

The new tires are certainly a lot different and we actually had a small problem with one tire on the first night, but the team of Goodyear representatives were on the scene immediately to assess what went wrong and seemed to be very proactive. It took a couple nights for me to learn the characteristics of the tire and to figure out how to drive them. It will be several races before we can have a good opinion of the tires because we need to see how they react on different types of surfaces. But truthfully at the end of the day, our opinion is not what is important, it is our results that matter and we are working hard to learn quickly and capitalize.

Meyers on Current Point Standings

We are right where we want to be in the point's standings this season. Last year we left Florida in a huge hole and continued to dig it even deeper before rallying back in the second half of the year and nearly capturing the championship. We are off to a respectable start this year and most importantly we have a great race car and engine package. We gave up a little bit in Florida as far as results in an effort to learn and it will pay off as the season progresses. It doesn't pay anything to lead the points after Florida, so as long as we are in the hunt, I am happy.

Meyers on 2010 Season Goals

Our goal this season is simple....WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP. We have been runner up three times now, twice in the last two seasons and we are getting tired of it. We need to win the championship, four our team, our sponsors, and for the fans across the country and around the world that are cheering for us. I would also like to win one of the big races the year, if not more.

Meyers on the Upcoming Western Swing

The next couple of weeks should be fun with the series headed west to Las Vegas and then to my home track in Tulare, CA. I have come very close to winning at Vegas twice, but had engine failure both times. It would be nice to get one there. Then we have Tulare where I have won more races than anywhere else, but never an Outlaw race. I always seem to qualify really well there and then the format puts me deep in the field and I salvage a top 5 but never a win. Maybe this year will be the year when we can get that elusive victory. It would mean a lot to win at home in front of my friends and family that have supported me for so many years.
