JASON MEYERS IN THE HEARTLAND
Jason Meyers and the Elite Racing team returned to the Kansas track on Saturday night for the second annual Thunder at the Heartland, which was postponed by rain last month.
Meyers began the evening turning a 12.433 qualifying time posting him 5th among a field of 25 competitors. Lining up 3rd in his heat race, Meyers was able to gain one position to finish 2nd earning him a position in the Crane Cams dash. Drawing the number 5 starting position, Meyers experienced some difficulty in the 8 lap dash, "We decided to try something in the dash in order to get better, and unfortunately it just didn't work. But the only way to learn is to try and right now we are working to build a better car for 2009 and we learned a lot during the Topeka event," commented Meyers. He would finish 8th in the dash.
Starting 8th in the nights feature event, Meyers got bottled up behind Terry McCarl in the opening laps knocking the nose wing down on the #14. He was able to gain one position where he was running until late in the race when he had some trouble on the back straightaway, "Joey and I were racing pretty hard and I slid to the cushion a little too fast causing the right rear to hook the cushion and spin the car. Just flat out driver mistake, I am embarrassed to say," said Meyers. Jason worked his way back to finish 12th in the GLR Investments, DDNi, KPC Chassis.
