CONCORD, NC (October 3) -- Danny Lasoski may be losing ground in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series championship race, but he increased his advantage in the Ratbag Cup standings during Nebraska Raceway Park's Great Plains Shootout. Lasoski second-place finish behind Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series points leader Mark Kinser in the September 21st Preliminary Feature gave him a 10-point advantage over Steve Kinser with two events remaining. The victory also pushed "Mopar Mark" to within one point of his cousin. The Ratbag Cup is a season-long points battle among the top 10 Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series drivers from the 2000 season. Points can only be scored during the 18 Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series telecasts on TNN. Ratbag, the Australian-based software company that developed "Dirt Track Racing: Sprint Cars -- The Official Video Game of the World of Outlaws," is offering a $120,000 prize pool for the competitors this season. The Ratbag Cup champion will receive $25,000 from Ratbag following the 2001 season. Sammy Swindell won the inaugural Ratbag Cup by recording the best average finishing position in all TV events after the Cup was announced at the inaugural event at Bristol Motor Speedway in June of 2000. It was a close battle with Steve Kinser that went down to the final laps of the season finale in Las Vegas. The Ratbag Cup's next event will be TNN's telecast of the Odoban Outlaws Championship at The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway this weekend. TNN will televise its final race of the season from the Mopar Parts World Finals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. <pre> 2001 Ratbag Cup Point Standings Through October 3rd Pos. Driver Previous Pts.
