HARTFORD, OH - With their nomad-like schedule, most Pennzoil World of Outlaws competitors don't have many chances to be at home. Dale Blaney and crewman Gene Jenkins will get a chance for some home cooking this week when the Amoco #93 team competes at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA, before moving to historic Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, PA on Thursday and Friday night. "We're looking forward to coming home and racing at Lernerville, the Grove and Hagerstown," said Blaney, who owns seven victories at Lernerville." "We're continuing to get better each race. Those are tracks that Gene and I have both raced at a lot and hopefully, that will give us an advantage. I've never really had a lot of success with the Outlaws at Lernerville, but we're hoping to change that on Tuesday. Gene won last year's $10,000-to-win Octoberfest show at Hagerstown with Billy Pauch, so I'm sure he'll be confident when we race there on Saturday and Sunday."

Blaney is making DB Racing's debut with Outlaws a successful one through 25 WoO races this season. The team ranks sixth in the standings and have been consistently running in the Top-ten all season. For Jenkins and Crew Chief D.J. Lindsey, this has been their first taste of full-time WoO racing, and the trio continues to show signs of a consistency with 10 Top-ten finishes in the last 13 races.

"I think we're all learning our roles better at each race," said Jenkins, who's owns the #55 sprint car that Pauch drives in Central PA. "I've really enjoyed racing all over the country, but I'm ready to get to victory lane. Dale continues to get more confidence, while D.J. and I seem to be getting better at setting the car up the way he likes it. I've raced at the Grove quite a few years and would really enjoy getting a win there."

Part of the learning process for the team has been working with new equipment. The trio seems to have identified a good set-up for the Maxim cars and an understanding for the best way to utilize the horsepower of the Mopar Engines, which are being built by Gary Stanton.

"I think this Mopar motor will really run well at the Grove," said Blaney, who surpassed the $1 million career earnings milestone on Saturday. "That track takes a lot of horsepower and these engines have proved that they can provide it. I'm really starting to get comfortable with these Maxim cars too, and we're feeling more and more confident with this Mopar and Maxim combination."

This week's races will be the first of three stops in Pennsylvania for the Outlaws. The team is hoping to continue their progress while keeping the big picture in mind.

"We're going to continue to plug away," said Blaney, the 1995 & 96 All-Star Champion. "Hopefully, we can get back into the Top-five. I felt like on Saturday at Terre Haute we should have run in the Top-five, but it seems like we're stuck on seven here the last few races. Seven's not a bad spot, but we need to have some finishes higher up. As long as we can continue to move forward in the features and can take advantage of our opportunities when starting up front, we'll be happy with the results." <pre>
