Danny Lasoski Joins Parsons Motorsports for 2009 World of Outlaws Season
Concord, NC-- December 13, 2008--Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, has joined the Parsons Motorsports team owned by veteran car owner Lonnie Parsons to compete full-time with the series in 2009, aboard the familiar No. 6 Casey's General Store machine.
Lasoski, who calls Dover, Missouri home, is currently sixth on the World of Outlaws All-time A-Feature win list with 81 career triumphs. He was victorious once in 2008 with the series, during the season opening Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida, driving his own car.
"I am very excited to be teaming up with Lonnie Parsons and Don Lamberti with Casey's General Stores," said Lasoski. "First of all, I appreciate the opportunity to represent Parsons Motorsports and Casey's General Stores on the World of Outlaws tour. Lonnie always has great equipment and knows what it takes to win with the Outlaws."
Parsons, who has owned sprint cars for a number of years, has six career World of Outlaws feature wins. The team finished 11th in car owner points last season with Tim Shaffer starting the year with the team and Paul McMahan finishing the season in the car. In 2007, the team finished in the Top-10 in the World of Outlaws championship standings.
"We were looking for a driver that would be a threat to win on any given night, at any given track," said Parsons. "Don (Lamberti) and I agreed that Danny is the guy we are looking for. Danny and I have been friends for a long time, probably since he drove for Max Rogers at Knoxville (1986). We've had a lot of good drivers in the 6 car, but we never really seemed to find the right combination and we were left searching for a situation to where we can win more races. I think Danny is one of the top drivers out there and we're putting together the right pieces to win."
Lasoski, who won his record eighth Knoxville Raceway track championship in 2008 and is the winningest driver in the history of the famed half-mile, will be teamed with longtime car builder Barry Jackson from JEI Chassis, who will be his crew chief, along with longtime Parsons Motorsports crew member Chris Strait. The team will utilize a JEI Chassis with Kistler power under the hood.
"I ended up spending the year off the tour in '08 at Knoxville Raceway," noted the veteran driver. "Don't get me wrong Knoxville was great. Racing at home and spending time with many old friends was a nice change of pace. But when the Outlaws came to town and then left, I was lost. I felt out of my element by staying put when they left town. I'm not ready to hang up my helmet by any means, and if you want to be the best you have to race with the best."
Lasoski had 11 Top-10 finishes in 2008 in a limited number of World of Outlaws starts, with five of those being Top-Five performances. He has finished sixth or better in the World of Outlaws championship standings in each of the last nine full seasons that he competed with the series, including a third-place showing in 2007 his last full year on tour.
"We are putting together a real solid team and I'm confident that we will win races together," he said. "I can't wait to get to the track to show them what we can do,"
The 2009 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series seasons kicks off February 6-8 at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida with the 38th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH.
