World of Outlaws Wednesday Night Chili Bowl Report

Tulsa, OK--Jan. 11, 2007 -- Five World of Outlaws drivers took to the tight quarter-mile at the Tulsa Expo Center on Wednesday during the first Qualifying night of the 21st Annual Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Danny Lasoski, the 2001 World of Outlaws Champions led the way with a 10th-place finish in the 25-Lap A-Feature. The native of Dover, Missouri, began his night in the fourth heat where he finished second, earning enough passing points to put in the fourth A-Qualifier. He won that event, again earning enough passing points for a spot in the A-Feature.

Sammy Swindell, a three-time World of Outlaws Champion and four-time Chili Bowl winner finished 20th in the 25-lap A-Feature. He won the first heat, earning enough passing points to put himself in the fourth A-Qualifier where he finished seventh. The native of Germantown, Tenn., then handily won the B-Main to earn a spot in the A-Feature.

Randy Hannagan making his second appearance at the Chili raced his way into the B-Main and came up just two spots short of transferring to the A-Feature. The 1995 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year began his night in the first heat, where he finished sixth. He was second in the second Last Chance race, earning a spot in the third A-Qualifier, where he would finish eighth, to move on to the B-Main.

Jason Sides, the 2003 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, raced his way into the first B-Main, where he came up just two spots short of transferring to the A-Feature. The native of Bartlett, Tenn., began his night in the ninth heat, where he finished in the fifth spot, earning enough passing points to move into an A-Qualifier. He then finished sixth in the third A-Qualifier, putting him in the B-Main.

Tony Bruce Jr., who will be competing for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award this season with the World of Outlaws, would up one spot short of transferring from the third Last Chance race into the third A-Qualifier. The native of Liberal, Kansas, began his night in the sixth heat, where he finished fifth.

Thursday will see two World of Outlaws drivers take to the track, as Daryn Pittman returns to the Chili Bowl for the first time since 2001, and Justin Henderson will make his second straight appearance in the event. Also reigning 360 OTC World of Outlaws Late Model Series Champion and Chili Bowl winner, Tim McCreadie will be in action.

The 2007 World of Outlaws season opens on February 9 at Volusia Speedway Park with the 36th Annual DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Mopar Speed Shop.
