Jerky Boy: Johnny B. Attends World of Outlaws Race

Middletown, NY--Long before he was making people laugh as one the Jerky Boys, John Brennan was attending races at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York. Born in Manhattan, and now calling Cornwall home, he has been fascinated with racing, especially sprint cars and modifieds from before he can remember.

"I love it, said Brennan, who has gained international acclaim along with his partner Kamal in the Jerky Boys skits. "I have been doing it since I was a kid. I've been coming to these things for years. We're here tonight to have some fun."

In addition to being a fan of the sport, Brennan has also been known to show up in pit areas and help turn the wrenches for drivers in his home state. On Monday night at Orange County, he was helping out Dan Hennessy, out of Salisbury Mills, New York.

"Racing is my hobby," said Brennan. "I've been coming here to this speedway since 1964. Every weekend, we're always here with the modifieds. When the Outlaws come to town we come for them. It's always been a big part of my life."

Brennan also has climbed behind the wheel, and turned some competitive laps in between working on films, television shows, and his comedy routine. He knows the best of both worlds in and out of the car, and knows the passion it takes to be successful on and off the track.

"The most exciting thing about it is the speed. The sheer speed," said Brennan. "The power to weight ratio is massive. They are incredible machines. To see these guys and gals get out there and do a great job, it has always amazed me."

Though he is very focused when he is in the pit area a dirt track, Brennan still likes to let his sense of humor still plays jokes on fellow crew members and driver's. Despite being imitated by countless people, Brennan was an innovator when it came to making prank telephone calls that were recorded as well as testing people's patience.

"We're always pulling pranks and what not," said Brennan. "We've been at that for years. Now it's the hot thing on television, but we've been doing that for the last 30 or 40 years. We're just out here looking to have a good time."

On a sunny Memorial Day in his home state, there is nothing Brennan would rather do than be at a World of Outlaws event, watching the Mean 15 put on a breath taking show on an ultra fast track like Orange County, where he countless memories. Who knows, maybe one day Brennan will strap into a car and take part in a World of Outlaws event one day.
