FAIRMOUNT, IN (January 26) -- Brandon Wimmer's racing career will shift gears while Redi-Green Motorsports launches its "Step It Up" campaign when they join forces in 2007.
Wimmer, who drove seven cars with three racing series last season, will drive Redi-Green Motorsports' ARB Incorporated-sponsored Maxim at Silver Dollar Speedway and against world-class competition in the Golden State Challenge Series and the World of Outlaws sprint series. The Redi-Green team, which is based in Sloughhouse, CA, also plans to race in two of sprint car racing's premier events -- the Knoxville Nationals and the Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway.
Wimmer, who is also pursuing an Associates Degree in Business Administration through an online program at Indiana Wesleyan University, is looking forward to the 2007 racing season.
"I'm really looking forward to teaming up with Redi-Green Motorsports," Wimmer said Friday. "I raced for them at the 2006 Trophy Cup, and we had a great weekend. I know this team has the potential to do great things. and I'm really looking forward to getting the season started."
In addition to adding a young, yet experienced driver in Wimmer, Redi-Green Motorsports acquired sponsorship from ARB Incorporated recently. ARB is a multi-national construction company headquartered in Lake Forest, CA, with satellite offices throughout the United States, South America and Latin America. ARB Incorporated constructs water and waste water treatment plants and power plants while providing a wide range of engineering, construction, fabrication, maintenance and replacement services to major energy, petrochemical, refining and mining companies, developers, utilities, and public agencies. ARB Incorporated attributes much of its success to the pursuit of excellence and perfecting a performance-oriented approach to each individual project. The ARB/Redi-Green Motorsports team will utilize this strategy as it races for series championships and the checkered flag in every event it enters this season.
"Brandon impressed the entire team when he raced the Redi-Green sprinter at the 2006 Trophy Cup, and we look forward to a very successful season as he returns to the cockpit," Team Owner Shammi Kumar said.
Wimmer, 20, won more than 100 feature races and numerous go-kart and mini-sprint series championships before attending Smiley Sitton's Outlaw Driving School and graduating to full-size sprint cars in 2002. Driving the famous #7TW Maxim for his grandfather, veteran World of Outlaws sprint car owner Tom Wimmer, Brandon enjoyed a successful season and earned the National Sprint Car Poll's Winged 410 Rookie of the Year award.
"Growing up around a World of Outlaws team was a lot of fun," Brandon says. "Even though I might have pestered the crew members, they still let me stick around and help out. I grew up around such drivers as Joe Gaerte, Jeff Swindell, Greg Hodnett, Dale Blaney and Bobby Davis, Jr., and crew members Scott Benic, Robert Hubbard, Rob Hart and Glenn Stewart. I have to thank them for letting me hang around. They could have refused to answer me and chased me away, but they always responded to my questions and let me help out and clean equipment. Thinking about it now, as a race car driver, I really appreciate the time they spent with me. I also remember all of the nights I snuck into the pits and sat on the trailer and watched; I remember it like it was yesterday."
The wheels are in motion for Wimmer to debut the ARB Incorporated/Redi-Green Sod Farms Maxim powered by Kistler engines in the World of Outlaws event at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA, February 23-24. Redi-Green Motorsports will compete in the Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway March 9-10 and open the Golden State Challenge Series season at Kings Speedway March 16-17.
