PLEASANTON, CA (February 7) -- Brad Furr Racing will open the United States portion of its 2001 race season in a little less than three weeks at the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series' opening race at Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA, February 23rd.

The team opened its 2001 racing season in January, running in Australia in the 20th Annual USA versus WA Sprint Car Speedweek at Claremont (Kwinana Motorplex) and Bunbury (Bunbury City and Regional Speedway). There were four events in the speedweek. The effort was successful in that Brad scored one win, one second and one fourth during the week and finished second in total points.

This year, Brad will again drive the Sanmina Corporation-sponsored Eagle Chassis, Don Ott powered 410-sprint car. Mike Harper will be in his third full season as crew chief and Rod Muesling and Mark Scoggins will be the team's crew members.

The team's plans call for Brad to compete in the first 11 events (18 races) of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series schedule and evaluate the team's progress.

"After the April 14th race at Eldora Speedway, we will make a decision as to whether to remain with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws or to switch to the Gumout series," Brad said. "We're very excited about racing with the World of Outlaws. It's the most competitive sprint car racing in the world."
