Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Preview: Billings Motorsports Park

Billings, Montana-- August 17, 2008-- It has been three seasons since the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competed at Billings Motorsports Park, and the series will return to the high-banked 3/8-mile on Tuesday, August 19 for a full night of racing, with $10,000 awaiting the winner.

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series first competed at the track in 2004, with 20-time series champion Steve Kinser picking up wins in both of those contests. He extended his win streak to three in 2005 and came up just one spot short of another win in the finale that season, with Daryn Pittman picking up the win.

In his career, Kinser has five total wins at Billings Motorsports Park and has finished first or second in all six of his starts at the track. He has led 51 laps of feature racing competition with the World of Outlaws at the track and 81 total laps in his career at the 3/8-mile. He has a total of six wins in his career in the state of Montana and has 11 Top-Five finishes in 12 starts in the state. This season he has won six times, to bring his career total to 549 A-Feature wins, including on Saturday night in his first career visit to Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, North Dakota.

Donny Schatz, the two-time defending series champion led the first 38 laps in his last start at the track before a rear end failure ended his night with a win in sight. He has one career win in Montana and six Top-10 finishes in eight starts. The North Dakota native recently won his third consecutive Knoxville Nationals and leads the World of Outlaws with 12 A-Feature wins. He also is on top of the series championship standings as he chases his third consecutive title and has finished in the Top-10 in each and every event this season.

Jason Meyers, who is currently second in the series standings, finished third and seventh in his last two starts at Billings Motorsports Park in 2006. The California native has won six times this season as he chases his first career World of Outlaws title. He recently finished second in the Knoxville Nationals after leading a number of laps. He has five career Top-10 finishes in the state of Montana. He leads the World of Outlaws with 33 Top-Five finishes in 41 events.

Craig Dollansky picked up Top-10 finishes in each of his last two starts at Billings Motorsports Park, which came in 2005. In his career, the native of Elk River, Minnesota has four Top-10 finishes in Montana. He has won seven times this season, including three times on 3/8-mile tracks and is currently third in points on the strength of 36 Top-10 finishes.

Joey Saldana has four Top-10 finishes in four career starts at Billings, with three of those being Top-Five performances. He finished fifth and 10th in his two most recent starts at the track in 2005. In his career in the state of Montana, he has seven Top-10 finishes, with six of those being Top-Five performances. He has won twice this season driving for Kasey Kahne Racing, including on a 3/8-mile at Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas.

Jac Haudenschild, who is currently fifth in points, finished third and fourth at Billings Motorsports Park in 2005, and has five career Top-10 finishes in the state of Montana. The veteran driver is sixth in points this season as he continues to chase his first win of 2008.

Chad Kemenah, who was the series top rookie in 2006, will make his debut in Billings on Tuesday, August 19. The native of Findlay, Ohio led a number of laps on a 3/8-mile track at Wilmot Speedway in Wisconsin a couple of weeks, as he too seeks his first win of the season. He has 24 Top-Finishes on the season.

Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, competed at Billings Motorsports Park for the first time in 2006, picking up Top-10 finishes in both of those events. The native of St. Mary's, NSW, Australia is currently tied for seventh in points as he too chases his first win of the season. He has racked up 26 Top-10 finishes.

Daryn Pittman, who is the only driver other than Steve Kinser to pick up a win in World of Outlaws competition at Billings, has finished sixth or better in three of his four career starts at the track. He has won three times this season, including on a 3/8-mile at Wilmot Speedway on August 2. He also won the 25th Annual Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway, pocketing $50,000 for that triumph.

Shane Stewart, the 2005 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, finished ninth in 2006 at Billings. He has made four starts during his career at the 3/8-mile. He won earlier this season at the famed Knoxville Raceway and is just outside of the Top-10 in points.

Terry McCarl finished sixth in his debut at Billings Motorsports Park in 2006. The native of Altoona, Iowa is just one point out of the 10th spot in points as he too looks for his first win of the 2008 campaign.

Sam Hafertepe Jr., who is in his second full season with the World of Outlaws, will make his debut at Billings Motorsports Park on Tuesday, August 19. The sophomore driver has 12 Top-10 finishes this season as he seeks his first career World of Outlaws win.

Jason Sides, the 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, has three Top-10 finishes at Billings Motorsports Park in his career. He finished a career-best fourth and fifth in his two most recent starts at the track in 2006. He is the current track record holder as well, setting that mark in time trials in 2005.

Kraig Kinser, who wore the rookie crown in 2004, has finished ninth or better in all four of his career starts at Billings Motorsports Park. He finished third in his most recent start at the track in 2005. He is in the midst of his first season behind the wheel for Tony Stewart Racing and has picked up eight Top-10 finishes.

Tony Bruce Jr., who recently won his first career World of Outlaws event at 34 Raceway in Iowa, has two career starts at Billings Motorsports Park, with those coming in 2006. The native of Liberal, Kansas is in the midst of his second full season with the World of Outlaws and continues to gain valuable experience.

Chad Hillier, who is also in his second season competing full-time with the series, also had made two starts at Billings during his career. The native of Burlington, Washington has four Top-10 finishes this season.

Paul McMahan has three Top-10 finishes in four starts in his career at Billings Motorsports Park. The veteran driver has five Top-10 finishes in six career starts in the state of Montana.

Lucas Wolfe will make his first start at Billings Motorsports Park on Tuesday, August 19. The native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania is in his first full season on the road with the World of Outlaws, and picked up four Top-10 finishes prior to sustaining a back injury in June that sidelined him for two month.

What to look for at Billings Motorsports Park:

* The event on Tuesday, August 19 will be the World of Outlaws first visit to Billings Motorsports Park since 2005 and the series only stop in Montana this season, and will be part of a stretch of eight events on 3/8-mile tracks in a 10-race period.

* Steve Kinser, the 20-time series champion has won five of his six career starts at the track, including three times with the World of Outlaws. He has finished first or second in every race he has competed in at the track.

* Donny Schatz led 38 laps in his last visit to the track before having a rear end failure with two laps remaining. He heads to Billings Motorsports Park atop the World of Outlaws championship standings and also leads the series in wins.

* Daryn Pittman led the final two laps in the series last stop at the track in 2005 after inheriting the lead from Schatz. Since picking up a win in the 25th Annual Kings Royal last month, Pittman has also won at Williams Grove Speedway in Pennsylvania, Wilmot Speedway in Wisconsin and Red River Valley Speedway in North Dakota.

* Jason Sides has set fast time twice at Billings Motorsports Park and currently holds the track record, which he established with the World of Outlaws at the track in 2005. The 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has three Top-10 finishes in his career at the track, including Top-Five runs in his most recent starts at the track in 2006.

* Kraig Kinser, the son of 20-time series champion Steve Kinser has four career Top-10 finishes in the same number of starts at Billings Motorsports Park. He finished third in his most recent start at the track in 2005.

* Jason Meyers, who is currently second in the series championship standings has four career Top-10 finishes at the track. The native of Clovis, California has won six times this season as he chases his first World of Outlaws title.

* Joey Saldana has finished in the Top-10 in all four of his career starts at Billings. The second generation driver has won twice this season, including once on a 3/8-mile track at Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas back in June.
