At the fourth round of the FIA WEC, young Dane Nicki Thiim, a driver new to Young Diver AMR, will take over the seat of Allan Simonsen, who felt victim of a tragic accident during the 24h of Le Mans. Thiim will share driving duties in the Aston Martin Racing entered Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin Vantage GTE with fellow countryman Christoffer Nygaard and Kristian Poulsen. After the tragedy at Le Mans, Young Driver AMR will start with a newly built Aston Martin Racing GTE at Sao Paulo.

Christoffer Nygaard is excited to return to racing and to Interlagos, were he already raced in the GT1 World Championship: „Interlagos is a great track, it’s one of those classic Grand-Prix-tracks, where it´s much fun to drive. There are some real quick corners, which should suit our Aston Martin Vantage quite well.“

The main target for Young Driver AMR at the Brazilian round of the FIA WEC is to finish the race and to score points. Nygaard: „This weekend we have Nicki Thiim onboard. He is a great talent and super quick, but of course, we have at first get together as a team, so we a have cautious approach. Our aim is to score as many points as possible. We want to win the championship in honour of Allan Simonsen and with five races to go, everything is still possible. It will be hard work, but I have two good teammates with Kristian and Nicki and we have a super quick race car.”

The 6h of Sao Paulo start Sunday, 1. September at 17:00 hours CET (12:00 hours local time) and are streamed live on the website of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
