Young Driver AMR wants to end its debut season in the FIA World Championship with a victory in this weekend’s final race in Bahrain. For the last time this season, Christoffer Nygaard, Kristian Poulsen and Nicki Thiim will chase a victory in the GTE-Am-class in their Aston Martin Racing entered Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin Vantage GTE.

Young Driver AMR dominated the GTE-Am class of the 2013 FIA WEC season. The Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin led 523 of a possible 871 laps so far in the GTE-Am class during the six-hour races of the FIA WEC, more then any other team in class. However, bad luck in the most recent round at Shanghai earlier this month prevented the team from chasing the world championship title until this weekend’s final round of the season at the Formula One track of Bahrain.

“We are looking forward to the last race of the season and considering the performance of Aston Martin Racing there last season und according to our data, it’s looks very promising“, Christoffer Nygaard says. „The temperatures will be a bit cooler compared to the race there last season and of course we have a different tire compound, but that should not be any disadvantage. Our goal is to end the season with a class victory. We had a great pace since the beginning of the season and I suppose we will also be on the pace at Bahrain. We are not going for the championship any more and have nothing to loose, so our only focus is to end the season with a win.”

Young Driver AMR´s Jan Struve is optimistic before the final round. „After we experienced bad luck during the last round, our forecast for the weekend should be cautious, but we would like to end the season in style. I think we finally deserve it to conclude our first FIA WEC season on the podium. At Bahrain, we would like to prove for the final time this season how strong our drivers, the team and the car are.“
