Updated World Endurance Championship schedule avoids Fuji/Petit Le Mans clash

The FIA World Motor Sport Council moves 6 Hours of Fuji back to its original date.

After some reshuffling between the three major endurance racing championships, all potential clashes in October 2014 have been avoided.

Tentatively scheduled for a week earlier, the 2014 6 Hours of Fuji race has been pushed back a week to Oct. 10-12, avoiding a conflict with the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship's season finale at Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans.

It remains to be seen if any teams will decide to race in both races, back to back. This is considered highly unlikely because of the time and cost involved in getting equipment and personnel from one side of the globe to the other.

A further endurance racing schedule clash was avoided last month when the European Le Mans Series revised its calendar to move their Estoril date to Oct. 18-19, giving fans three consecutive weekends of racing.

2014 FIA World Endurance Championship season:

April 18-20 – Silverstone
May 2-3 – Spa-Francorchamps
June 1 – Le Mans Test Day
June 14-15 – 24 Hours of Le Mans
August 29-31 – Sao Paulo
September 18-20 – Circuit of The Americas
October 10-12 – Fuji
October 31-November 1 – Shanghai
November 13-15 – Bahrain
