Silverstone WEC: Third practice cancelled by snow
The third free practice session of the World Endurance Championship opener at Silverstone has been cancelled due to poor weather, with snow curtailing the action.
The one-hour session started as scheduled in dismal conditions as Silverstone was hit by a morning snow shower, Anthony Davidson's Toyota being among the first to venture out of the pits.
However, the Briton caused a red flag when he lost control of the #5 TS050 Hybrid at Chapel Curve, getting beached in the gravel - although he was able to get back to the pits with a bit of help from a recovery crane.
Proceedings resumed some moments later, but with few cars venturing out and no laptimes being set, the red flags were flown again just after the 20-minute mark as the snow intensified.
With just over 20 minutes remaining, the decision was taken to cancel the session, with no prospect of the snow abating.
No laptimes were set, with only a handful of cars even heading out of the pits at all.
