Rebelion Racing to start on second row at the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Bahrain

Neel Jani achieved the fourth fastest laptime in the qualifying session for the 6 Hours of Bahrain and in so doing placed the B12/60 Lola-Rebellion #12 as the first car amongst the FIA WEC privateer field.

With a lap time of 1'47''638, the Swiss driver powered his Lola B12/60 up just behind the hybrid factory cars.

For tomorrow's race, the team will use the chassis from the car that was expected to race in Atlanta next month due to a heavy contact with the GT #50 in the third free practice session. Consequently, the #13 will start the race from the back of the grid.

A victory in tomorrow’s race would give the team enough points to win the FIA Endurance LMP1 Private Team Trophy, the main objective of the team this season.

The two B12/60 Lola – Toyota, their four drivers and all the REBELLION Racing team will do their best to secure the LMP1 Private Team Trophy from this desert setting.

Neel Jani – Lola-Toyota #12 : «We had a dream qualifying session. With a gap of 8 tenths ahead of the HPDs we are above even our own expectations ! Once again, my first lap was my best, that's why I knew I had to be on it from the start of the session. Tomorrow, everybody will have the same opponent... and the same goal : beat the heat !»

Bart Hayden REBELLION Racing Team manager : « It has been a really up and down day for us today. We are really happy to secure the Privateer pole especially because it puts us in a good position for the race ; as another win would give us the FIA Endurance Private Team Trophy title.

On the other hand, we're having to rebuild the #13 car after its collision with the GT #50 in the third free practice session this morning. So we are a bit sad for Andrea Belicchi and Harold Primat who could not take part in the qualifying session and will have to start from the back of the grid. However, the team will do their best to give them every chance to secure a top result tomorrow »
