Mike Conway returns to the World Endurance Championship this weekend, as he takes part in the penultimate race of the WEC calendar in Bahrain.

Conway will be racing for Toyota Racing; his second appearance for the team in his role as test and reserve driver, which has been dovetailed with his race-winning IndyCar programme.

Mike has had a good year in IndyCar this season, having won at both Long Beach and Toronto. His strong performances have led him to be nominated for the Autosport British Driver of the Year.

The Bahrain track has good memories for Mike as he took the LMP2 class win here in the WEC round last year and to return with Toyota Racing in the TS040 Hybrid is an exciting prospect for Mike.

On racing in Bahrain for Toyota, Mike said, “I am really excited to be competing in the World Endurance Championship for Toyota Racing again, teaming up with Alex and Stephane in the #7. It’s good for me to get more time behind the wheel of the TS040 Hybrid; it’s an unbelievable car and obviously very competitive. “

Mike continued, “I know the Bahrain track pretty well from my LMP2 days, when I won the class and also the championship in 2013. Hopefully this experience will help me and I can’t wait to get going.”

Last time out, Mike had to battle the elements in Austin and will be hoping the weather will be much better this time round as he and his Toyota Racing teammates take on the challenge of the 6 Hours of Bahrain, which will be a day/night race.

The race will start at 12pm (GMT) on Saturday and is live on Motors TV.
