Following a decision by the FIA World Endurance Championship stewards, the LMP2 pole time set by the #47 KCMG car at COTA has been disallowed.
As a result, the team will now have to start the Six Hours of the Circuit of the Americas from the back of the field.
The #47 car due to line up 10th overall and first in class after they clocked a 1m56.834s lap.
But Matt Howson, Richard Bradley and Nicolas Lapierre were stripped of class pole due to "driving the car in the opposite direction of the track".
At the start of the qualifying session, Howson came to a halt just past the pit exit, which saw his LMP2 car slide backwards before being towed back to the pits.
The penalty has put the #26 G-Drive Racing Ligier JS P2 Nissan of Sam Bird, Roman Rusinov and Julien Canal on LMP2 pole instead.
