Conscious Mark Webber taken away by stretcher following accident

Mark Webber exited the season finale in quite spectacular fashion, but is awake and alert.

Mark Webber has been involved in a massive accident with his No. 20 Porsche, colliding with the No. 90 Ferrari of Matteo Cressoni and multiple barriers on both sides of the race track.

The rear of the car was decimated and left mangled, barely connected to the rest of the machine. The cockpit area remained mostly intact. A small fire erupted, but was quickly extinguished. Mark had his neck stabilized and was placed on a stretcher. He was confirmed to be awake and alert, waving his hands as they loaded him into the ambulance.

Cressoni leaned on a nearby wall, catching his breathe. The initial cause of the accident is not yet known, as video replays have only revealed the rear end of the crash.

UPDATE: Both drivers to spend night in local hospital
