Christmas comes early: a festive update from Benoit Treluyer

The past month has been busy for Benoit Treluyer after winning the WEC championship with his two teammates, Marcel Fässler and Andre Lotterer. Now as he prepares for the holidays, he takes time to send best wishes to all.

The past month has been crazy with plenty of ceremonies and PR events on behalf of Audi to attend thanks to our victory at the Le Mans 24 Hours and FIA World Endurance Championship title.

I have taken great pleasure in meeting all the friendly faces and re-living our triumphs on video among such a warm atmosphere. There’s been plenty of emotion each time we’ve watched the tapes that highlight the entire team’s effort, hard work and happiness. Myself, André and Marcel really enjoyed all of the moments that provided us with an opportunity to realise what we have achieved this year. Perhaps it’s strange to say but, in a way, we impressed ourselves with those achievements.

One more time, together with André and Marcel, we’ve been able to share all those ceremonies, something that has proven extremely enjoyable.

Obviously the three ceremonies had very different atmospheres. The FIA Gala in Istanbul was more straight laced. It was the first time that I’ve had to wear a dinner jacket and, although not very comfortable at first, I did get used to it. The WEC party was more informal and the last, the one organised by Audi, felt more like a family gathering. It was the crescendo in terms of letting off steam: very calm and formal with the FIA, more easy going at the WEC and a family party at Audi. We celebrated with the entire team before and after but, as we had a photo shoot at 9am the following day, were careful with the champagne!

As far I can remember, I have never experienced such a busy time in my entire career. Never have I been so occupied with travelling, PR activities and official dinners. But I’m not complaining. It has been a wonderful December. Certainly Father Christmas has come a little bit earlier for us this year. It’s been a shame not to attend all the ceremonies to which I was invited but, each time, my heart was there.

I would like to thank all of the fans who have supported us so strongly throughout the season. I wish you a merry Christmas and a fantastic 2013. Hopefully I’ll see you again next year and your support can help us to repeat the same kind of success that we have enjoyed this season. Also, I would like to say a huge thank you to Dr Ullrich and Audi who have just renewed my contract for 2013. I owe them a lot and am keen to do all that I can to successfully represent the brand once again.

I would like to finish by mentioning Dindo Capello who has been a great servant to the team. Having chosen to retire, I would like to wish him all the best for the future. We have only spent three years with him but it has been an amazing ride. He is very special… Dindo, we are missing you already!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.
