SHANGHAI, 25 October – With the Team GTE Pro title already in the bag, AF Corse is preparing for the final race of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), In Shanghai this weekend, the Italian team will try to end the season the same way it began, namely with a win.
The two AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 have won five races out of seven so far: it began in Sebring (won by Andrea Bertolini and Olivier Beretta) then came Le Mans and the legendary 24 Hours, followed by Silverstone, Sao Paolo and Bahrain (these last four seeing victory secured by Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni). Even when they did not win, on two occasions, they nevertheless made it to the podium.
In China, the GTE Pro cars will be banking on the same crews they have used all season and you only need to look at the numbers to see they are a winning outfit: Fisichella- Bruni in their Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 number 51, Bertolini- Beretta on board Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 number 71.
Alongside these two Prancing Horse cars bearing the Italian flag, also taking part in the GTE Am category is the Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 number 61 of Robert Kauffman, Rui Aguas and Marco Cioci.
It’s worth pointing out that Ferrari has already won the GT Constructors’ title, with two races in hand in this inaugural WEC championship.
