6 Hours of Bahrain, a race like no other for REBELLION Racing

Saturday, 30 November 2013, will be an extremely special day for REBELLION Racing : the Lola LMP1 Coupé will compete in its final race at the Shakir International circuit for the 6 Hours of Bahrain, the closing round of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship.

Swiss team REBELLION Racing has run several Lola Coupé chassis over 6 seasons, starting in LMP2 in 2008 and 2009 and of course in LMP1 from 2009 to 2013.

After the final race of the 2013 season in Bahrain, the REBELLION Racing team will enter a new era. As confirmed previously, REBELLION Racing will enter two REBELLION R-One LM P1 prototypes in the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The Swiss team announced, prior to the 90th edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours in June 2013, the venture with ORECA who have been selected by REBELLION Racing to design and build the all new REBELLION R-One LM P1 for 2014.

REBELLION Racing will enjoy the last round of the 2013 FIA World Endurance Championship with little pressure as the Swiss team has already achieved all of their targets for this season. REBELLION Racing won the FIA Endurance LMP1 Trophy for Privateer Teams for the second time (after the win in 2012) and, on top of that, REBELLION Racing achieved two overall podiums in the 2013 FIA WEC at Interlagos and Fuji. REBELLION Racing won the closing race of the American Le Mans Series in a back-to-back victory at Petit Le Mans.

Bart Hayden, REBELLION Racing Team Manager : "An important era for REBELLION Racing reaches its conclusion with the final race for the Lola CoupÈ LMP1. The Team built its reputation with this car, we have recorded a lot of victories and championship wins in the Le Mans Series, in the American Le Mans Series and of course in the FIA World Endurance Championship through the FIA Endurance LMP1 Trophy. It would be fantastic if the Lola could finish its career with another podium at the 6 Hours of Bahrain."

Why Jose Maria Lopez isn’t motivated by emulating Fangio

Having twice missed out on Formula 1 and reinvented himself as a touring car driver, Jose Maria Lopez has had a rocky ride to becoming a four-time world champion.
