ALTON, VA - Virginia International Raceway will celebrate the 4th of July weekend with a variety of activities sure to suit everyone, from the racing or custom car enthusiast to the youngest family members, this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - July 6th, 7th, and 8th. All children 12 and under will be admitted FREE.

On track action includes HSR (Historic Sportscar Racing) races Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Historic Racing is the fastest growing segment of motorsports in the United States and Europe. Participants and spectators alike find in Historic Sportscar Racing a "time machine" through which they can relive the glamour and excitement of auto racing history. The "Cars are the Stars" in HSR.  But, unlike relics sitting in a museum, they are doing what they were designed to do, RACE. As a "time machine" of sight and sound, Historic racing recaptures an era of motorsports when the cars were simple and the drivers were visible.

Off track, you can check out the ^ÓHot Rods 'N Harleys' show, with proceeds benefiting 'God's Pit Crew' - a disaster response team based in nearby Danville, Virginia. Look for new parts for your own 'project' in the Vendor Midway, or find that elusive used part at the Swap Meet. Kids of all ages won't want to miss the Coke Family Fun Wagon or the mobile Rock Climbing unit.

Saturday evening entertainment will include not just live music, but TWO BANDS! The Brown Brothers will perform at 5:00 pm, followed by an Oreo Cookie Stack-Off at 6:30 pm. Then Backstreet takes over from 7:00 to 9:30pm, after which the evening will be capped off with an all-American Fireworks Display!
