VOM appears at Goodwood

The Sumo Power GT team is delighted to confirm that one of its GT1 Nissan GT-Rs will appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place this week between 30th June and 3rd July. The car will perform a number of demonstration runs up the famous hill climb course during the event’s four days, with Nissan’s FIA European GT4 Championship and GT Academy driver Alex Buncombe at the wheel.

The recently finalised entry, which has been made in conjunction with Nissan GB, means that the 1000s of people who attend this spectacular and hugely popular annual celebration of motorsport, will have the opportunity to see one of the team’s very special GT1 Nissan GT-Rs in action, the cars more regularly seen competing overseas in the FIA GT1 World Championship.

In fact, whilst the Festival of Speed is taking place, the Sumo Power GT team will be at the Navarra Circuit in Northern Spain for round six of the global sportscar championship – and is the reason why none of its four regular drivers is able to attend the Goodwood event. The clash of dates also means that the Nissan GT-R being used at the Festival of Speed will be the team’s test car, which is one of only five GT1 versions of the GT-R ever built.

“This is the first time that one of our cars has appeared at the Festival of Speed and we are delighted that it joins the ranks of some of the most legendary competition cars ever produced”, said Team Principal Andy Barnes. “I am sure that the sight and sound of our GT-R going up the hill will impress the 1000s of spectators lining the route, as many of them will never have seen the car before.”

And, when it’s not being demonstrated on the 1.16-mile hill climb course situated in the grounds of Goodwood House, the Sumo Power GT Nissan GT-R will be on static display in the SuperCar paddock.
