(TX} Following on from his race one victory, 48 year old Geoff Farmer drove his Lotus 49B superbly to take the race win in the second Stathfield Formula Adelaide race today.
Farmer's main rival Pete Lovely was forced to start from the rear of the grid due to fuel problems, but Lovely drove a great race to finish in second place.
After a race long battle between Sir Jack Brabham, Robs Lamplough, Mike Ryves and John Dimmer,it was Lamplough who would come out the better and finish in third position in his BRM P133.
"Today we had a chance to have a play with the set up and the car felt great throughout the race and I feel we will be able to go even quicker in the third race later today." Farmer said
"I had to really push hard as I didn¹t know what the situation with Pete (Lovely) was but I knew that if he got through the field he would be able to challenge for the lead."
Starting from the rear of the field due to the O-rings on his fuel metering system failing in his Lotus 49B, Lovely drove a great race to finish in second place.
"I was worried with the fuel problem as the car was misfiring when we started it in the pit area which is why we decided to start from the rear of the field." said Lovely
"Once we got the up to speed the misfire seemed to disappear, but it was still not running at it¹s best and the crew will try to rectify the problem before race number three."
Sir Jack Brabham showed that he has still showed not lost any of his driving skills by exchanging positions with Lamplough throughout the event with some great late breaking maneuvers. <pre> Race Results Pos - Driver - Car - Time 6 laps 1 - Geoff Farmer - Lotus 49B Cosworth - 9:32.22 2 - Pete Lovely - Lotus 49B Cosworth - +26.14 3 - Robs Lamplough - BRM P133 - +29.00 4 - Sir Jack Brabham - Brabham BT24/3 - +29.66 5 - Mike Ryves - Brabham BT11A - +30.88
