Crewe, 13 August, 2001... Bentley Motors is proud to announce that it has been named as the Honoured Marque for both the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance and the Monterey Historic Races at Laguna Seca to be held over the weekend of 17-19 August.

Bentley will be taking the two most important members of its historic collection to

California to celebrate. First is EXP2, the second 3-litre Bentley prototype built in 1919 and now the oldest surviving Bentley in the world.

The second car is the ex-Tim Birkin 4* litre Blower Bentley used in his epic duel with the Mercedes of Rudolf Caracciola during the 1930 Le Mans, which will be driven round the challenging Laguna Seca circuit. Unlike most racing cars, it has survived the years in remarkably original form and is unchanged in all-important regards from how it was in 1930. As such, it is the most original and important Bentley Team car in existence.

In addition to these two old war horses, a rather more modern but no less battle-scarred Bentley will also be making the journey to the Pacific coast. The Bentley EXP Speed 8 that endured 24-hours of often near-impossible driving conditions to finish Le Mans in third place and return Bentley to the podium after 71 years away, will also be on display at the Laguna Seca raceway.
