Holden Hero says farewell to full-time Supercars career as Championship goes down to the wire

Holden hero Craig Lowndes is gearing up for his final voyage as the sports sets to close the curtain on the most illustrious full-time Supercars careers, in the sport’s history. Not one to rest on his laurels Lowndes says he has his sights set on winning his final race at this weekend’s final round of the championship in Newcastle. Meanwhile, teammate Shane van Gisbergen says having Triple Eight teammates Lowndes and Jamie Whincup by his side will be pivotal, as he prepares to fight for his second Supercars Championship crown, with just 14 points separating him and series leader, Scott McLaughlin. Lowndes also added that he expects his Commodore to perform well in Newcastle given the winning results the car has produced on street circuits this season. The final round of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship is for a grandstand finish with all the action live on Fox Sports and on the Ten Network from Friday.
