Rear of grid start at Winton for LRT

August 17, 2002 - The Lansvale Racing Team has qualified 28th out of 36 V8 Supercars entered in the 8th Round of the Australian V8 Supercar Series at Victoria's Winton Raceway today.

28 year old LRT VX Commodore driver Cameron McConville could not hide his disappointment with this qualifying result at the Winton circuit, particularly after the team's top five qualifying performance at Oran Park just three weeks ago.

"We have struggled with finding a good balance all day. Due to this I didn't gain anything from the new set of tyres. 28th was not what I expected to achieve at this circuit. Its another rear of field start and a very hard day ahead tomorrow," He said.

Despite the team's problems, Sydney's Lansvale Racing Team still managed qualify ahead of Tony Longhurst (Ford), Paul Romano (Holden), Anthony Tratt (Ford) and the Dick Johnson Racing Falcon duo of Steven Johnson and Paul Radisich.

A record crowd is expected at Winton tomorrow (Sunday) with perfect weather predicted for the two 32 lap V8 Supercar races scheduled at 11:35am and 3:00pm.
