JASON BRIGHT RACES TO FIRST FPR POLE POSITION AT WINTON
June 3, 2006 - Jason Bright has muscled his CAT FPR Falcon to the FPR team's first V8 Supercar Pole position following today's qualifying and top ten shoot-out at Victoria's Winton Raceway today.
Bright, whose last Pole position in this series took place three years ago, (Adelaide 2003) was in unbeatable form today. He set the top qualifying time of 1:23.3089s and followed up that determined performance with the fastest lap in the hotly contested top ten shoot-out. (1:23.6101s).
The CAT FPR Falcon driver edged out Holden drivers Paul Dumbrell and Jason Richards with Craig Lowndes and Steven Richards making up the Round 4 top five qualifiers.
BroadIP Ford Credit Falcon driver Mark Winterbottom once gain impressed with a top ten qualifying peformance, placing the 25 year old into his third consecutive top ten shoot-out. A mistake on his single timed lap stopped the FPR Falcon driver from improving on his 10th starting spot for today's first race.
#6 Jason Bright - "It has been a long time between pole positions for me - and this is a great reward for all of the very hard work the team has put in to make it to the front of the V8 Supercar field. The car is in great shape for the races and I am looking forward to a strong weekend for the team."
#5 Mark Winterbottom - " I am very pleased for the team as this is a very special occasion with Jason's Pole position effort. I made a mistake during the shoot-out which probably cost me 5th or 6th spot today, but it is good to be starting the first Winton race in the top ten considering how competitive this field is."
FPR starts the first of three Winton V8 Supercar heats, a 34 lapper, from Pole position and 10th on the grid at 3:00pm.
