Wilson wins in Brazil warm-up to VIP Qld. 500
Max Wilson driver of Team Betta Electrical car 65 in the V8 Supercar Series, returned from Brazil this week with yet another motor sport victory under his belt.
Wilson, returned to Brazil after round 8 at Winton last month to celebrate his 30th birthday with his family in Sao Paulo, whilst there he was invited to drive in the annual 500km production car endurance race at the famous Grand Prix Circuit of Interlagos driving a Porsche GT3.
Wilson qualified second with a lap time of 1:39.9 for the 116-lap event, behind a European Listerstorm sporting an extra 200 HP over Wilson's Porsche.
Wilson maintained second position throughout the race, taking over position one when the lead car was forced to make an extra pit stop in the closing stages of the race.
Wilson said it was a great experience and pleasing to win such a major event in his home country.
I think it will hold me in good stead as a warm-up to the VIP Pet Foods Queensland 500 this coming weekend he said.
Max Wilson and Dean Canto will team up in the Betta Electrical AU Falcon V8 Supercar 65 to campaign the first of the 2002 endurance races.
Both drivers have been preparing for the Queensland event and say they are very pleased with the team's preparation of car 65 for the event.
Both drivers are looking forward to meeting their many fans at a special autograph signing to be conducted at Australia Fair Shopping Centre Southport,on the Gold Coast this Thursday, September 12 between 6pm and 7pm.
