Lap two saw the safety car come out as Rodney Jane, Grandson of the first Bathurst 500 winner, Bob, spun at the Chase.

When racing resumed, Percat opened up a one second gap while a battle for the minor placing’s raged behind him.

Percat continued to increase his lead, driving away from his opponents and by lap ten had stretched his lead to over five seconds. Percat drove a faultless race in the Coates Hire Racing Commodore winning impressively by over four-seconds from title rivals Chas Mostert and Scott Pye. Percat remains fourth in the Dunlop Series.

QUALIFYING

The Coates Hire Racing Commodore of Nick Percat was on track early today for the Dunlop Series qualifying. Early in the session Percat set the second fastest time with a sizzling 2min 8-second lap around the Mt Panorama circuit.

Shortly after the session was red-flagged after Nandi Kiss made heavy contact with the wall, at the top of the circuit. Once it resumed, Percat put in a number of very fast laps and with less than five minutes to run, topped the timesheet and sat on provisional pole.

Then, with under two minutes remaining Percat was pipped for pole position by Chas Motstert in the Falcon. Percat started from the front row of the grid for today’s 14-lap race.
