V8 Supercars has confirmed a seven-round 2016 calendar for the second-tier Dunlop Series.
Having initially been left off the Clipsal 500 schedule, a change in heart now sees the series kick off at Adelaide’s marquee event.
The series will then race at Phillip Island in April, before making the long trip to Perth in May. Rounds follow at Townsville, the Sandown 500, the Bathurst 1000, before coming to an end at the season-ending Sydney 500 late in November.
“This is great outcome for the V8 Supercars Dunlop Series and will ensure that we are showcasing the next generation of stars to fans who can follow their careers from the beginning,” said V8 Supercars boss James Warburton.
“Many of our drivers including Mark Winterbottom, Chaz Mostert and Scott McLaughlin have made their way through the Dunlop Series and it has proved to be successful pathway for many young drivers.
“Now the series will receive even greater exposure and we look forward to some exciting racing in 2016.”
