Wet weather played a hand in the outcome of today's Top Ten Shootout at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 with the top three drivers from qualifying disadvantaged by heavy rain late in the session.

Craig Lowndes, who was the fifth driver out in the Top Ten Shootout, luckily missed the rain and secured the third fastest time.

There was no such luck for teammate Jamie Whincup who was the first shootout contender to be hit with the downpour, the championship leader still managed the eighth fastest time in the wet conditions on slick tyres.

The V8 Supercars will be back on track for a 20 minute warm up at 7.45am (AEDST) ahead of the highly anticipated 1000 kilometre ‘Great Race’ which will get underway at 10.30am (AEDST).
